Overview
Rebecca Montalvan is a Principal Research Associate for Clinical Research with over 15 years of experience directing large-scale health-related research projects for federal government agencies. She monitors all aspects of study operations, including budget management, staff oversight, quality control activities, timelines, and communications. Her responsibilities include facilitating communications with clients and external stakeholders, overseeing project task leads, and providing instruction to junior staff. Montalvan also manages project reporting, including budget, task, and data tracking. In addition, she manages data for large cohort studies, including maintaining communication and timelines and collaborating with third-party organizations. Montalvan has developed study materials, manuals, and procedures for clients and interviewers and for specimen collection and analysis. She has trained interviewers in data abstraction and conducts quality control assessments.
Her project work includes, among others, the NHLBI’s Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine Administrative Coordinating Center (TOPMed), where Montalvan is the Project Director, overseeing the administration, publications, scientific consultation, and website tasks. Montalvan is the Project Director for NHLBI’s Artificial Intelligence Coordinating Center (AI-CC), leading the development of funding opportunity announcements for AI projects. For CDC’s Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Project, Montalvan is the Project Director, managing day-to-day operations of clinic data submissions, quality control assessments, and data cleaning and analysis. For NCI’s Support Services for Interdisciplinary Studies in Occupational and Environmental Cancer contract, Montalvan was the Senior Study Manager, where she performed study management activities for the Interlymph genome-wide association study. Montalvan oversaw study activities and harmonized data for analysis for 2 large meta-analyses.
